ICAI filed a writ petition in Karnataka High Court seeking mandamus to numerous agencies of Union of India & universities but the main target was ICTPI against whom an ex parte interim relief was immediately granted to ICAI. This was widely publicized in mainstream media in November 2024, including but not limited to The Hindu, Deccan Herald etc and by various members of ICAI in social media.
All aspects fully analyzed, all arguments heard; the interim relief to ICAI was vacated on December 20, 2024; with final orders released in January 2025 by the Hon'ble Karnataka High Court.
Not a single allegation levelled by ICAI against ICTPI was sustained. Hence the ICAI writ petition against ICTPI was rejected. The full text of HC-K order is here The Institute Of Chartered Accountants ... vs Union Of India on 20 December, 2024
As you can see the Hon'ble Karnataka High Court had directed RD MCA Hyderabad to decide upon the separate dispute filed by ICAI against ICTPI at MCA Hyderabad, in concluding para of its order. That was completed by RD MCA Hyderabad in April 2025, as reported here https://taxguru.in/chartered-accountant/icai-vs-ictpi-name-similarity-dispute-dismissed-rd.html
Extremely satisfying to engineer the arguments & proceedings through these eight months.
